If you're on a yeast free diet or might be beginning one due to intolerance to yeast this post will help you with a variety of items you can add into your new healthier lifestyle.
This is not meant to be a complete list as their are countless different types of special foods that change by country and region.
If you handle the lion's share of your own food preparation then it's very simple to rid yeast from your diet. This is a basic list of allowable items for those suffering from an intolerance to yeast.
Protein
All meats are free of yeast (unless it's spoiled but hopefully you won't be eating that)
If you use fresh meat you're good to go.
Allowed Proteins:
Veal
Seafood
Pork
Eggs
Duck
Cornish
Hen
Lamb
Turkey
Pheasant
Beef
Goose
Chicken
Vegetables
All types of vegetables are considered safe.
If some of thevegetable goes spoiled cut the rotten part out. Most of the remaining parts of the vegetable should be alright for consumption. Just be sure it's firm and is not discolored, it should be free of yeast.
Foods commonly thought of as veggies, for example eggplant and bell peppers are actually fruits.
Exception:
Mushroom ( is not a veggie, it's actually the fruiting body of a fungus)
Allowed Veggies:
Avocada
Asparagus
Peppers
Broccoli
Carrots (small amounts)
Peas
Tomato
Green Beans
Eggplant
LeafyVegetables (Mustard, Lettuce, Greens, Collards, Kale)
Squash
Cauliflower
Beets
Potatoes (small amounts)
Turnips
Onion
Celery
Radish
Fruit
These can be trickier. You have to be more aware with fruits than you do with meats or vegetables. Since many fruits have a large sugar content it's possible to trigger candida growth.
Dried fruits often have yeast.
A few kinds of fruit have candida on their actual skin. Take off the skin of the fruit (must be fresh) and eat the remaining amount.
Nuts and Seeds
They don't have candida and are therefore acceptable.
Beverages
There are many different ideas on caffeine when on a yeast intolerance diet. Many people react well and some react negatively when continuing to consume caffeine. It would be smart to attempt to have caffeine in small amounts or if you can eliminate it from your life completely.
Here are some allowed beverages:
Allowed Beverages:
Water
Vegetable Juice
Decaffeinated Tea
Coffee
Hopefully this list of allowable foods for those who suffer from an intolerance to yeast will put you on the right track!
Best of luck and here's to a healthier tomorrow!
